A volte più sono minuscoli, ma deliziosamente incastonati nel territorio di appartenenza, più risultano gradevoli. Il discorso vale anche per Alberona, che non fa certo mistero di questa qualità essendo tra i più piccoli centri della provincia foggiana, dai cui palazzi si gode un ottimo panorama dei monti della Daunia. Tali elementi hanno consentito al paese di potersi fregiare dell'ambito riconoscimento assegnato dal Touring Club di Bandiera Arancione.
Non solo, naturalmente. Qui si respira, specie d’estate, un’aria salubre e fresca - siamo a quota 732 sul livello del mare - che contribuisce ad attirare una moltitudine di persone dall’intero Tavoliere. Alberona rappresenta, dunque, una méta ideale per i turisti e per i tanti emigranti che, profittando delle ferie estive, ripopolano un paesino viceversa scarsamente abitato nel corso dell’anno. Tutt’attorno si espandono fitti boschi intersecati ogni tanto da torrenti e rii, come il piacevolissimo canale dei Tigli, la cui attrattiva è data da impreviste cascatelle. Oltre all’aria buona vi è anche l’acqua ad attirare i forestieri. Sono infatti numerose le fontane e le sorgenti che solcano questo territorio.
Origini
Alberona ha radici antiche anche se non del tutto acclarate. Secondo alcuni storici le sue origini vengono fatte risalire intorno all’anno Mille quando nella zona trovarono riparo alcuni esuli calabresi.
Arte e cultura
Da visitare la Chiesa Madre, con la vicina Torre detta del Gran Priore risalente quasi agli albori del paese e l’altra chiesa, quella intitolata a San Rocco, del 1500.

It is just the same to Alberona, which doesn’t certainly make a secret of this quality, being one of the smallest centres in the province of Foggia, from whose buildings you can enjoy a wonderful panorama of the Daunia Mountains. Such elements have allowed the small town to adorn itself with the longed-for acknowledgment of Orange-Coloured Flag awarded by the Touring Club. Obviously it isn’t only this.
Here, especially in summer, you can breath cool and wholesome air – you are at 732 metres above sea level – which attracts a lot of people from whole Tavoliere.
Alberona represents, then, an ideal destination for tourists and so many emigrants who, taking advantage of their summer holidays, repopulate a village which is scarcely inhabited instead, in the course of the year. All around stretch thick woods crossed, now and then, by streams and brooks, like the quite pleasant canal of Lidens, whose attraction is provided by unexpected little waterfalls. Besides good air, there is also water to attract foreigners. As a matter of fact, numerous fountains and springs cross this territory
Origins
Alberona has ancient roots, even if they haven’t been completely ascertained. According to some historians, its origins date back to about the year One Thousand when some exiles from Calabria took refuge in the area.
Art and Culture
You can visit the Mother Church, with the nearby tower named of the Great Prior, dating back to almost the dawning of the small town, and the other church which is devoted to St. Rocco, of 1500.
